The club's first jersey - publicly unveiled in March 1993 at a lavish launch (attended by John Quayle, Wally Lewis and Fred Ah Koi) and sold in 1993-94, ahead of the club's 1995 on-field debut. Collectors often call it 'the 93 jersey'. Produced in limited numbers by Canterbury of New Zealand in 100% cotton, it carries the NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) badge because the competition was still run by the NSWRL before the ARL took over from 1995 - making it a distinct, rare collectable, not the inaugural strip. A "Lenco Diamond" supporter replica also exists.

★ Rare pre-launch 1993-94 release bearing the NSWRL badge from before the ARL rebrand; launched March 1993.

The 1994 season

This is the only 1994 design catalogued so far - see the 1994 season page.

Maker and sponsor

The on-field version was made by Canterbury. Supporter replicas were made separately by Lenco and Peerless, so a Lenco or Peerless label identifies a fan version rather than a fake. The front-of-jersey sponsor in 1994 was DB Bitter.

Collector's notes

As the season's primary strip it was produced in the largest numbers, so it is the easiest 1994 jersey to find and the usual starting point for a season-by-season collection. To check a 1994 home jersey, compare the neck and hem labels with the maker for that season (Canterbury), make sure the sponsor set matches 1994 rather than a neighbouring year, and compare stitching, collar and sponsor placement against the photo above. Replicas are usually a looser cut in a lighter fabric than player-issue jerseys, which also carry a number and, in most eras, a tighter athletic fit. Data confidence for this entry is medium and the primary source is classicrugbyshirts.com.
